The Hotel Convento San Francisco is located in the historic center of Vejer de la Frontera, a Historic Artistic Monument since 1978, on the top of a hill from where the dried up Laguna de la Janda, the Barbate River, runs at its feet and the coasts of El Palmar and the Cape of Trafalgar.
Building of the 17th century, originally a convent of Poor Clares nuns, later of Franciscan monks, retains the sober and austere atmosphere created by its first inhabitants.
Each common space has its own personality. The choir room … the reading and leisure room, choral stalls and original frescoes attest. The convent chapel … the cafeteria where you can still see the remains of original frescoes.
